NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania has programs, trainings, and events that educate individuals and families about mental health to help them overcome stigma, find treatment, and manage their experience in the most productive way possible.
We offer peer-led education programs and presentations that provide information, skills, and insight about mental health. NAMI progams help individuals and families better understand mental health conditions, coping strategies, communication techniques, and ways to handle crises and relapse. We also provide customized presentations for schools, workplace, and the community.
All NAMI education programs, presentations, and support groups are led by trained volunteers with lived experience. As the state organization, we host these trainings so people can gain knowledge, skills, and confidence to return to their community to continue the NAMI mission.
Throughout the year, NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania hosts three major educational conferences:
These events feature innovative researchers and speakers, NAMI leaders, and workshops designed for individuals in recovery, family members, advocates, mental health professionals, educators, and students.
NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania is part of NAMI National’s Community Health Equity Alliance (CHEA), a program to bring attention to serious mental illness in the Black community. In Allegheny County and across the state, we are forging partnerships with stakeholders in communities disproportionately impacted by racial trauma associated with disparities in mental health care with the goal of achieving equity in mental health treatment and care.
